My Story

I've always hated to write about myself whether it be for a résumé or a getting to know each other exercise for a class. I figured since I was the author of this blog though I should include a section about myself.

I guess I should start with the most obvious intro line; my name is Francesca Varischetti and I'm 19 years old.

Okay, now that I got that out of the way…

I grew up in Small Town, USA (Brockway, PA). I'm beyond words proud of the town I come from and wouldn't want to have lived anywhere else.

I'm currently a freshman at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. I was studying Newspaper and Online Journalism in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, but that recently just changed. I'm now a Psychology major and also a cadet in Air Force ROTC. I hope to either make a career out of the Air Force or one day become a school psychologist.

When I was 15, the summer after my freshman year of high school I started writing for the local newspaper in my town. I called the sports editor one day during the baseball all-star season asking if he needed another writer because there were so many teams in the area and he told me of a game that weekend to go to, write about, and send him my article. Four years later I've had over 100 articles published in print and numerous articles that have run online as well.

Writing is my passion, which is a major reason I decided to start this blog. (And also because a blog is much simpler than the book I've been trying to write for four years but that's a whole other story)

Now for the randomness:

In my spare time, which there isn't very much of because I'm so active, I enjoy watching sports, particularly football and wrestling, baking, and riding horses. Next to writing, horses are my love and my life. I currently have two horses (my mare just gave birth to her first foal and I'm a proud "grandma" right now) and hope to open a therapeutic ranch for veterans someday, but again, that's another story unto itself.

The quote that I live by is Ralph Waldo Emerson's, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I'm a firm believer in being an individual and not following the crowd. I was born a leader and have never been afraid to be the one to set an example for others.

People who know me best say I'm a perfectionist, go-getter, and stubborn as hell. I can wholeheartedly agree with all of those.

I'm your typical teenager who tweets too much (follow me: @cesca_celeste), listens to music too loud, doesn't get enough sleep, has high expectations, and many goals.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
